Loss of separation over Buenos Aires: Flybondi and Arajet involved in TCAS alert incident
On the night of January 18, two aircraft were at risk of collision over Buenos Aires. A system aboard the involved aircraft acted as the final safety barrier. The Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation.
On January 18, 2025, the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) once again played a crucial role in aviation safety, preventing a potentially dangerous encounter between two commercial aircraft over Buenos Aires airspace. The incident involved Flybondi flight FBZ5062 and Arajet flight DM6263.
The near-miss occurred at night, between approximately 8:55 PM and 8:59 PM local time (11:55 PM–11:59 PM UTC). Flybondi flight FBZ5062 had departed from Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP), while Arajet flight DM6263 had taken off from Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). Both planes were ascending when their flight paths converged dangerously.
